10-15% Western adults develop gallstones during their lives and/or may experience cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), which often results in removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy). The gallbladder is crucial for concentrating and releasing bile, synthesised in the liver, into the small intestines for fat digestion. This means gallbladder disease and cholecystectomy can often be connected to digestive disorders, as well as a wide range of other health disorders.

The gallbladder and liver are intimately linked, as a healthy liver is required to produce bile. However, death from liver diseases has risen by over 25% in the last decade with 1 in 10 people under the age of 40 dying from liver-related disease. In fact a simple build up of triglyceride fats within the liver cells causes Non-Alcohol Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), one of the most common chronic and persistent liver disorders in the UK affecting 1 in 5 adults and up to 80% of those who are clinically obese. Fatty liver syndrome was historically thought to only occur with heavy and frequent alcohol consumption. However it’s now recognised that there are many other factors that can contribute to fat accumulation in hepatocytes. The early stages of NAFLD often does not present with clinical symptoms but the accumulation of fat can eventually lead to serious liver problems and an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease including heart attack and stroke, if left untreated. NAFLD is a serious and rising health concern in the UK but there is very little awareness of this primary liver disorder.

Join Dr Elisabeth Philipps for the CPD accredited webinar on Gallbladder & Liver Health where she will discuss naturopathic approaches to supporting liver and gallbladder health. Topics covered include:

o   Role of the gallbladder in health and disease including understanding gallstones.

o   Impact of gallbladder removal on digestion and health.

o   Naturopathic nutritional support for liver, gallbladder and fat digestion including a practical guide to a successful detoxification programme and natural support for gallstones and liver.

o   Practical guide to nutritional supplements to support liver and gallbladder health including high potency phosphatidyl choline lecithin powders.

This comprehensive webinar will help you to understand how to support gallbladder and liver health with practical information on successful, tried and tested naturopathic nutrition programmes.
